Hi everyone and thanks for dropping by! First off… sorry for the late post. It’s been a busy weekend and both SirPutts and I had a lot on our plates. We hear lots about the “big” names in golf… Ping, Nike, Callaway, Cleveland and TaylorMade. We see their ads, read about their products, see their Tour players and for the most part… buy their products. These companies know what they’re doing and put a ton of money into making sure we know what they’re doing too. Every year some surprises emerge… last year we saw clubs like the Nickent Genex 3DX ironwood and the Tour Edge Exotics fairway wood sell well without much advertising. I’m starting to see a few surprises this year and I thought I’d give you a heads up… be sure to check these out next time you’re at your local shop.

Benross Escape 3G Hybrid – Our UK readership can probably tell you about Benross but the name is still pretty foreign in North America. Our shop recently starting carrying the Benross line and it’s some pretty quality stuff at good prices. The club that really sticks out for me is the Escape 3G Hybrid. This one reminds me a bit of the Nickent hybrid and feels very solid at impact. It’s also very forgiving and comes with a decent Aldila stock shaft. You’ll need to head over to the Benross website to find dealer information and this club is worth a look if you can find one!

Bridgestone B330 and B330-S Golf Balls – Ok I know these guys have spent some money on advertsing but I also know that the premium golf ball market is very difficult to crack into. The Bridgestone balls have done very well at my shop this year and I’m starting to see people returning to buy more… something that is very important. Think about it… anyone can buy a ball once and then never buy it again because they hated it. It has to mean something when the people that bought B330’s early in the year are coming back to buy more. I use this ball… partly because it reminds me a lot of the old Precept U-Tri series. I’m not saying that it is as good as the Titleist Pro-V… still the best premium ball on the market… but it’s pretty close. Try a sleeve… you might find yourself going back for more!

Tommy Armour Royal Scot Senior Series – There comes a time in everyone’s life where they start to lose some of their power and distance. I hope my time is a long ways off on the horizon but when it does come I hope there is a set like the Tommy Armour Royal Scot on the market. Tommy Armour has had kind of a rough go of it lately but they are starting to right the ship. The Royal Scot set is a mid priced 10 piece set designed for someone that wants to get the most out of their slower swing. The set comes with a couple of woods, a couple of hybrids and six “low center of gravity” irons. I usually don’t get too excited over a seniors set but this one is a great choice for the money. Ladies might want to take a look at the Tommy Armour Allegretto… the sister set to the Royal Scot.

BagBoy NXO Revolver Cart Bag – I’m not a huge fan of cart bags but this one is pretty cool. The NXO features a revolving top to make it easier to get to those clubs that like to hide at the back of the bag. It also features Grip Lok technology that keeps the clubs secure so they don’t bang into each other. It’s kind of a tricky one to explain so head over to the Bag Boy website and see for yourself.

Dunning Golf Clothing – There are lots of great clothing companies out there and Dunning Golf should be near the top of the list. The company is making some real inroads on the PGA Tour and thier clothing has been a hit with our customers. The combination of technical materials and tradition designs make their products tough to turn down. Head over to Dunning Golf for more information.

Hi-Tec Golf Shoes – These are probably the biggest surprise for me. I’m sure you’ve seen Hi-Tec products somewhere before… the company makes shoes in almost every footwear category. We’ve just started to carry Hi-Tec golf shoes and people love them. The company has worked hard on various technologies to help keep the golfer both stable and comfortable. Their CDT Power shoe could be one of the best shoes that no one knows about. These are worth a look!

That about does it for now. I’m off to help mom in the garden… my Mother’s Day present to her… a day late I might add! Thanks to all that have emailed us over the past few days. We’re getting caught up on emails so keep sending them in! Talk to you later.
