Most of you likely heard of the flooding in southern Alberta, Canada on the news last week.  But what you likely didn’t know is that shanks and I are Alberta-residents.  While the flooding didn’t directly affect us, it did drastically change the lives of many people we know.  We were recently sent some photos of the damage to one of the province’s premiere golf clubs, the Kananaskis Golf Resort.  This is really sad to see, and it’s no telling how long it will take (if ever) to get this course operational again.  Designed by Robert Trent Jones, the Kananaskis golf resort was rated in Golf Digest Top 25 Pulic golf courses to play in North America.  See pictures of the course before and after the flood below.

We wish all the staff over at Kananaskis all the best, and hope the course is back up and running in 2014.

  1. Wow! What a disaster! Heartbreaking. Excellent pictures, and like you I can only wish all the staff the best of luck, in getting this beautiful course up and running again, sooner rather than later. Steve

  3. I hear people talking locally (Edmonton) that Kananaskis Golf Resort may not be reopened anytime soon due to the mounting cost to repair the course. I of course can’t verify everything. As much as I love the region the provincial government has bigger concerns than this golf course at the moment.
