Good day and thanks for stopping by. Today we’d like to remind you that Callaway’s MD3 Milled Wedges will become available nationwide starting Sept. 4th, 2015.

Callaway says that the MD3 line is the most complete wedge line the company has ever created, having the versatility and selection for every shot, course condition and swing imaginable. Callaway leverages 3 unique grinds (S-Grind, C-Grind and the new W-Grind), and a new milled Progressive Groove Optimization system, optimizing spin for each loft that allows you the shot that you want.

Chief Club Designer at Callaway, Roger Cleveland received extensive input from Tour players, using their feedback to craft the toe profile, sole and grinds of MD3 Milled. Providing you with even more custom options for shafts, grips and finishes. These wedges should give you everything needed to get up and down from pretty much anywhere.

Here’s Roger discussing the new MD3 wedges…

3 Grinds – Every condition, every shot, every swing

W-Grind: A slightly wider sole – perfect for softer conditions or when coming in with a steep angle to the ball. Also, it’s extremely playable out of all bunker types.

S-Grind: The most versatile option – great for a wide range of conditions (normal, soft and firm), shot types, and swings (moderate to more sweeping attack angles).

C-Grind: Made for firmer conditions and versatility around the green – heel and toe relief allow for a few different shots, especially opening up the face and keeping the leading edge low.

Let’s talk progressive groove optimization

The MD3 Milled line features a 3 groove package precision milled into the face of these wedges, optimizing spin as you go up in loft. This creates a smoother spin transition from your irons to wedges. The 30V grooves in the Pitching and Gap Wedges are built for shots that require a steep angle into the ball. The 20V grooves in the sand wedges are made for full and bunker shots, and Callaway put in wider 5V grooves in the lob wedges for better control for shots out of the rough and around the green.

Lots of discussion with Tour players combined with some advanced CAD design resulted in a balanced wedge with a high toe profile and a semi-straight leading edge. The weight ports at back of the wedge gave Callaway the freedom to re-position the weight for better shot-making, particularly out of deep rough.
