TaylorMade ‘06 TP MB’s On The Way

Hey everyone! Just a few quick notes before I head out to grab some dinner. I talked about travel cases on Thursday and I wanted to talk briefly about hybrid travel cases. I’ve also got a bit of TaylorMade news so let’s get to it.

The hybrid travel case has become a really popular item over the past few years. They offer decent club protection without the bulk of a hard sided travel case. Hybrid cases are basically golf bags with removable hard tops. Golfers simply remove the top when they get to the course and use the hybrid as a golf bag. We sell a few different types at my shop and there are a few that are more popular than others. Cargo Golf makes a few really good ones. They actually have a stand bag version now… I haven’t see it in person but it looks pretty good. The other company that makes a good hybrid is Bag Boy. Both companies offer a few different sizes and they are worth a look. There aren’t really any huge disadvantages to hybrids… some people like having their actual golf bag on their trip and others mention that hybrids don’t have enough features but overall response is very positive.

I talked a bit about the big weekend that Cobra Golf had and it should be mentioned that sister company Titleist did pretty well too. Titleist won the golf ball count at the FBR… not a huge surprise, the wedge count and the putter count and finished second in the iron and driver count. Titleist reports that Holmes played the Pro V1x ball, 695CB irons, Vokey wedges and a Scotty Cameron putter. It should be noted that not all of the Cobra staffers are playing Titleist irons… many have been trying the Cobra K Forged models instead.

Expect to see the new 2006 TaylorMade TP MB irons in May. There are a few pictures of these floating around the internet but they are about as blade as blade can be. These won’t be for everyone! Everyone will want to look at them but only the real serious player should hit them. We’ll talk a bit more about these as the spring draws closer.

That’s all for now. I think I’m going to hit the hay a bit early tonight. We’re all caught up on email so feel free to drop us a line. SirPuttsAlot will be around tomorrow with his Fantasy Golf picks for the week and I’ll be back on Wednesday. Talk to you soon!
