Callaway Offers Rebate On Big Bertha 454 Driver

Hello eveyone… hope you all had a great weekend! I’ve been collecting some odds and ends (mainly Callaway ones) and I thought I’d throw together a bit of a post.

Looks like Callaway Golf is lowering the price of the popular Big Bertha 454 in an attempt to keep pace TaylorMade and their recent movement on the driver front. Callaway is now offering a $50.00 rebate on any new Big Bertha 454 driver bought between December 1st and January 31st. This should help with 454 sales through the busy Christmas season and makes the driver an even better buy. The promotion also runs right into the release of the new X460 driver. Check out your local Callaway retailer or the Callaway Golf website for more details.

Let’s stay with Callaway. Word on the street is that the company is interested in adding another “Top 10 Player” to their PGA Tour roster. Their big guy is obviously Phil but they don’t have that second really big name. There are a few guys that come to mind here but I think my guess would be someone like Padraig Harrington… who has been seen at the Callaway test center over the past few months. Don’t be surprised if Nike makes a bit of a splash in the Tour player signing department too.

Speaking of Callaway…. again. The X Tour wedge that has been spotted around the internet will be in the 2006 Callaway line. My Callaway guy says that it will kind of be their “higher spin” wedge… an answer to the Vokey Spin Milled and TaylorMade Y-Cutter. I couldn’t get an exact date on the X Tour wedge but I’m thinking March would be a safe bet. I’ll keep you updated. He didn’t have any new info on a possible 2nd version of the X Tour irons but he should have some more news before Christmas. Looks like Roger Cleveland is playing a big role in these new Callaway clubs.

My Callaway rep was also talking a bit about the Hogan golf balls. We just started carrying these at my shop and they are actually doing pretty well. He was telling me that these Hogan balls are actually made by Bridgestone… which kind of surprised me. You would think that Top Flite would make them seeing that Hogan falls under the whole Callaway/Top Flite umbrella. I’m going to do some more digging around becuase I find this hard to believe.

That’s all for now. Congrats to my San Diego Super Chargers on their big win and to my Boston Bruins on finally winning a few games after trading away their captain. Thanks for all the email and keep sending them in. SirPutts has been working really hard to keep up! Talk to you later…
