News and Rumors

Well, SirShanksAlot and I are pretty busy doing some behind the scenes work so we don’t have a big post tonight but we do have some news to tide you over for the weekend…

We have received official word that MacGregor will be introducing the MacTec NVG 2 driver and UT hybrid clubs for 2006. No official release date yet but hopefully we will have more news for you soon. MacGregor has been working really hard the last couple of years to restore their long proud heritage. If I’m not mistaken MacGregor is the oldest golf company in the world that is still around and they have made some of the most important golf clubs in history. Does anyone remember Jack Nicklaus’ MacGregor Muirfield irons?

Foot Joy has announced a new line of outerwear for 2006. The new line has a sportier look and some flashy colors. The Performance Outerwear Collection will be available in January. Some of the pieces use a new trademarked ProDry fabric designed to wick away moisture.

We get quite a few questions about component golf clubs, well, here’s one for you. Golfsmith is apparently bringing out a new driver called the 1K. The 1K measures in at an incredible 1000 cc’s! You read it right. Obviously this driver isn’t legal for tournament play but its sure to make some noise when it is released. Thanks to the boys over at GolfWRX for that one. They have a picture of it too.

We’ve also had a number of emails about the new Ping equipment and specifically the i5 irons. We are working hard to get a review up for these irons but early signs are all positive. It looks like the i5 is a solid all around performer but that’s all we can say for now.

With Christmas fast approaching some of you might already be thinking about shopping, or you might be waiting until Boxing Day like me. Anyways, we thought we’d give you a quick rundown of some items that are selling well for us already:

– Volvik Crystal balls have been a hot seller for over a year but they are showing no signs of slowing down.

– The TaylorMade R5 is the early leader in the driver category but that could change with more closeouts on the way.

– If you are looking for a great buy on a golf bag look no further than the Ogio Grom. The full feature bag comes in some great colors and is a great all-around bag.

– Yes! Golf has had a great run in 2005 with their C-Groove putters. If you are looking for a top of the line putter without spending $300 they might have the answer for you.

Thats all we’ve got for now, as I said we’re doing some work behind the scenes so if you lose us for a day or two don’t fear, we will be back! Until then, have a great weekend and enjoy the last tournament of the year.
