We have been hearing rumors about it for a little while and now TaylorMade has announced that the new R7 425 and 425TP will be released in early December. The date we have heard is December 9th so expect to see it sometime around then. A few online retailers have the new R7 425 on their sites and have December 11th as the release date. The technology is similar to the old R7 but with more discretionary weight to move around and a better shaft. There are pictures of this driver up on Golfwrx right now. The other new driver, the R7 460 won’t be released until spring 2006. Watch for updates on the TaylorMade website in the very near future.

We talked about this last week and I’m not really that surprised that TaylorMade has fasttracked this release. Many industry people I talk to say the driver market is a bit sluggish right now and the new R7 can probably do really well. It also gives TaylorMade a jump on other drivers expected to be released in the spring. I think this could turn out to be a very good move and the 425 should get a lot of looks leading up to Christmas.

Looks like the Hogan C-S3 and matching fairway woods are on the way out. Our Hogan rep was in the other day and removed the driver and fairway woods spec sheets from our product books. Hogan will now focus their efforts on their irons, hybrids and putters. The Hogan line gets streamlined again… my guess is it will be eventually cut out all together.

Not a huge update today… it’s Thanksgiving for most of our readers and people have other things to attend to. Thanks for all the emails (including the ones wishing us a Happy Thanksgiving) and the support. Have a great time eating turkey and watching football!
