The SodFather and the PGA Championship

Wow… the last major of the year is upon us already. Before I forget… let’s make some picks. I picked Vijay way back in December and I think I’ll stick with that pick. I’ll pick an underdog too… I’m thinking Sean O’Hair will have a breakthrough tournament and could contend. He hits it long and …

Wow… the last major of the year is upon us already. Before I forget… let’s make some picks. I picked Vijay way back in December and I think I’ll stick with that pick. I’ll pick an underdog too… I’m thinking Sean O’Hair will have a breakthrough tournament and could contend. He hits it long and straight… something that is vital at the PGA. There… quick and painless… unlike SirPuttsAlot’s roster of 100 selections! Just kidding.

Srixon Golf has released a few new clubs. First up is the 450CC W-506 driver. Srixon calls this the most forgiving driver that they have ever made. The company has positioned the center of gravity towards the back and bottom to produce a high launch angle. Next are the I-506 irons… a cavity backed iron designed for the better player. The I-506 irons are forged out of 1025 carbon steel and feature a thin top line and minimal offset. These are great looking irons! Srixon has also released the P-500 series of putters… both putters in this new series are larger mallets that feature a high MOI. Some great products from a very underrated company! Check out all of the new Srixon clubs on the Srixon Golf website.

Tom Purtzer won last week’s 3M Championship using a prototype hybrid club from Adams Golf. Adams plans to release this hybrid later on this year under the “Adams Idea” brand. The club is also being used on the PGA and Nationwide Tours too.

Looks like the Callaway Big Bertha fairway woods have reached the end of the line. Word on the street has Callaway discontinuing the woods this fall and releasing a new fairway wood shortly thereafter. I’ll see what else I can dig up here and I’ll let you know.

I’ve also heard that the current Maxfli Noodle golf ball line will be discontinued with a newer, less expensive line on the horizon. These are great balls for the average golfer… watch for them on closeout!

Retief Goosen used a Yes! Tracy putter during his win at The International over the weekend. Retief has been flopping back and forth between a few different putters but it looks like he has found one that works! The Tracy was also used by Jeong Jang in her win at the Women’s British Open a few weeks ago.

Check out the “SodFather” short film on the TaylorMade Golf website. A very cool idea from our friend Jason and the rest of the TaylorMade gang… there’s lots of Oscar buzz around it already!

That’s all for now… SirPuttsAlot had some more news that he passed along to me on the phone today and I’ve totally forgotten all of it. Maybe he’ll post something soon. Thanks for all the emails and all the kind words of support! Have a great day and we’ll talk to you soon.
