Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by. Lot’s of odds and ends to get to so let’s get started!

Ping Golf could be the strangest company for us here at SirShanksAlot.com. They keep very quiet about their new clubs and there is never really any “buzz” around their stuff. Let’s compare the Titleist 735 iron and the new Ping i5 iron. Titleist had the 735 irons out on Tour long ago. Websites and magazines started creating a buzz around them… “When will they be released?”, “What are they made of?”… we got email after email asking about a club that 99% of the golfing public didn’t know existed. Compare that to the Ping i5 iron that has been on Tour for a few weeks now and could be making it’s way to stores soon… we even got an email from a reader that was told by a Ping rep that they will be on the Ping website next week. Where is the buzz and the hype? I’ll be very curious to see if these are up on the website next week… that seems pretty early to me but Ping has been known to do stranger things! If you haven’t seen the i5 iron yet, run over to Golfwrx and check out the picture thread from the Buick Open.

Also at Golfwrx… pictures of the new Ping G5 driver. I don’t know a whole lot about this one… I had heard a rumor about a new driver a while back and this could be it. I’ll do some digging and I’ll let you know what I find. We’ve also had a few questions about the Mizuno MP-60 irons. These irons feature a Cut Muscle design and look amazing. These could be one of the new “MP” offerings coming out in the fall.

We had a question about Retief Goosen’s putter at the Bordom at the Bridges… I mean Battle at the Bridges. It looks like (from what I could see) Goosen has gone back to his Yes! putter after experimenting with TaylorMade putters. I was too busy looking at his shoes! On a related note… that should be the last Battle at the Bridges now that Tiger has announced that he will not be a part of the event in the future. Just in time if you ask me… there aren’t too many golf events that I turn off in favor of doing laundry!

Another email about a good “bang for your buck” ball… something that has a bit of feel and spin but does not carry a heavy price. SirPuttsAlot likes the Titleist NXT Tour and Top Flite TL Tour. I’ll agree with the Titleist NXT Tour… it’s probably the best Titleist ball for most players. I’m also partial to the Callaway HX Red or Blue and the Bridgestone Tour B330. There are some great golf balls for decent prices… not everyone will benefit from a Pro V1! Need more help finding the right golf ball for you? Check out my post on April 12/2005 in the Golf Buying Guide category.

We got a closeout list from Adidas Golf the other day. It’s not very long and I’m assuming that there will be a few more additions. On our list today… the Z Traxion 3 -Stripe, a3 Athletic, SSE 75 and the woman’s SSE Classic. We’ve also been told to clear out Cobra 400 non-offset drivers, Cleveland Launcher 400 drivers and Odyssey DFX putters. We’ll see lots of closeouts as we near September and I’ll be sure to pass them along as we get them. September is a great time for bargin hunters… find out what is on closeout and then go hunting! We’ll keep you updated.

And lots of email asking for a review of the new Callaway Fusion FT-3 driver. Trust me… it’s coming! It should be up in the next few days… we’re trying to get a few more people to hit it first. Thanks for all the email and all the support!
