TaylorMade R9 Rumor Stomped!

Hello everyone! Thanks to everyone for checking out our “Golf Rumors” post yesterday and a big thanks to everyone at www.golfwrx.com for your feedback! We got some solid information about one of those rumors so let’s start there…

We got some more information today concerning a new TaylorMade driver… or lack thereof. There will not be another new TaylorMade driver this year. Watch for a new one in the spring (no real surprise there) and don’t count on it being called the “R9″. I’m guessing that it will incorporate some sort of movable weight technology but we have been told that it will not be a composite head. There… one rumor down! We’ll let you know if any other information comes our way.

I mentioned some backorders a few weeks ago and one of them seems to be cleaned up now. We got a ton of odds and ends in from Callaway yesterday and it looks like they are caught up on most of their orders now. Next up for them will be the FT-3, Fusion fairway woods and the HX Tour 56 golf ball. Nancy Lopez stuff is still a bit of a problem. TaylorMade Rescue Mid’s are tough to find (their free Rescue with a set of irons promo is doing awesome for us) but we hear that they will be caught up soon. I think our only other major backorder right now are the Ogio Grom golf bags… awesome bags at a great price! We’ll keep you updated on backorders as the summer rolls on!

Everyone has been talking about the Ping hybrid that Miguel Angel Jimenez used in his win over the weekend but lost in all of that talk is the fact that Srixon Golf got another win. Jimenex used a Srixon Z-UR prototype ball in his win at the Celtic Manor Wales Open. Srixon is quietly having a solid season on the major Tours (5 wins worldwide and 11 Top 10’s on the PGA Tour) yet no one asks about the ball in my shop. Too bad… I’ve used Srixon balls in the past and they are great. Golf balls are a really tricky business to be in because Titleist is just so big and everyone else is just so small!

Watch for a second version of the Bridgestone B330 ball in a store near you. The Bridgestone B330S will be a softer, higher spinning version of the current B330 ball. My Bridgestone guy also assures me that this version will be a lot more durable than the last one! He dropped off some info on the ball today but I didn’t pay attention so I will do some reading tomorrow. We should see the B330S next month.

We’re always looking for new and exciting golf products here at SirShanksAlot.com and I think we may have found a good one! Check out www.peakvisionsports.com and have a look at their new Dual Zone technology. It looks like a really interesting idea and there are some pretty big names endorsing it too! We’re on the case so watch for a full review very soon…

Well that’s all for today. It’s kind of a double header for you… a few odds and ends from me and a full review of the new Cleveland CG4 irons from SirPuttsAlot. And before I go… on a total non-golf related note… a huge congrats to one of my favorite hockey players of all time… Cam Neely on his induction into the Hockey Hall Of Fame. I used to love watching Cam play and it was only a matter of time before #8 made it to the Hall!
