TaylorMade Golf Balls

Kind of a dumb finish at the Nissan… mainly because I’m a Darren Clarke fan and he got the short end of the stick… oh well. Do kids need a titanium driver? Ping Golf thinks they do. The company has just introduced their Moxie junior set. The set consists of seven clubs… the woods have …

Do kids need a titanium driver? Ping Golf thinks they do. The company has just introduced their Moxie junior set. The set consists of seven clubs… the woods have a real G2 look to them and the putter is a kids Craz-E. The driver is 325CC… which would be 2CC bigger than my current driver. Check them out at www.pinggolf.com .

I had a reader ask me about the graphite shaft that Adam Scott uses. Scott uses a UST Proforce prototype in his Titleist driver… minus the ugly purple and yellow colors.

We have had a lot of emails asking about the Cleveland CG2 irons. I hit them the other day so here is a mini-review. They set up about the same as the TA2 and the TA3. They are not as forgiving as either of the aforementioned irons and play a lot like a blade. The one thing that I really noticed was how soft they were. I would say this is probably the softest Cleveland iron that I have ever hit. If you want an iron that plays like a blade but is slightly more forgiving, then I would look at these. If you want something with a fair amount of forgiveness… then stay away!

I talked to my TaylorMade guy last week and it sounds like the company might make another run at the golf ball business. Titleist pretty much owns the golf ball business but TaylorMade is one of the hottest golf companies in the world. It’s still just a rumor but watch for them to use technology from Maxfli (whom they own) to create a small line… probably two tour balls and one mid range ball. Look for these balls in the next year or so… maybe the fall or early in 2006.
