Again not too much to write about… go figure… it’s November. I had a nice chat with my Callaway source today and got some interesting bits of news.
Hank Kuehne has signed with Callaway Golf and will begin playing their clubs in the new year. Hank will also be a major part of their marketing strategy and should team up well with Phil Mickelson in Callaway ads. No word on what Hank will play…. my guess (and it is an educated one) will be the new Fusion driver, Big Bertha fairways, Callaway Heavenwood, and X-18 Pro Series irons.
The Phil Mickelson/Roger Cleveland irons should be released in January at the PGA Show in Orlando. Rumor has it that the irons will be available in both left and right hand, and should be available to stores in March. No word on what they look like, how much they will be, etc. but as soon as I know you will know. An aside to the irons…. Phil currently plays the Callaway X-Tour irons.
One more bit of Callaway news……. Vijay Singh was recently was spotted at the Callaway Golf test center trying out a Callaway Fusion prototype driver. Vijay’s new deal with Cleveland Golf does not include a driver so he is free to play whatever he wants. Cleveland has been trying really hard to find something of theirs that he likes but he has played the TaylorMade R7 Quad for a while now.
Hank Kuehne has been using a hybrid/driving iron (the HI-660 to be exact) from Fourteen Golf. SirPuttsAlot came across their website today and there is some nice stuff on it! Check out www.fourteen.co.ja for more details but I hope you understand Japanese!
