The Idea a2 OS is Adams Golf’s second generation of the popular Idea hybrid set. While hybrid clubs have soared in popularity over the last two years they hybrid combo set has been a little slower to catch on.

Adams was the first manufacturer to release the hybrid set and they are still clearly the market leader in this category.

What The Company Says…

The a2 OS is a blended set of irons and hybrids designed to progress smoothly from club to club. The set starts out with the very forgiving, cavity backed 9 iron and pitching wedge. The 7 and 8 irons both feature a hollow-backed design to move the center of gravity lower and deeper in the head to increase forgiveness and playability. The set then moves into the 5 and 6 hybrids which are iron-like hybrids with an even lower and deeper center of gravity. The 3 and 4 iWoods are wood-like in design and are even easier to hit. The 3-6 hybrids are available with the Grafalloy ProLaunch 75 hybrid shafts while the 7-PW are available with Grafalloy ProLaunch 75 or True Temper Performance Lite shafts. The progressive set is designed to flow from club to club without any unusual gaps.

The set is also available in a2, Seniors, or Women’s versions.

What Our Readers And Customers Say…

Since the a2 OS set was introduced last fall it has received rave reviews from testers and customers alike. This is possibly the most forgiving set of irons available. All of the clubs have a wide sole and low center of gravity and they do hit the ball high. Players will have no trouble getting the ball in the air with any of the clubs in this set.

Many of our readers and customers really like the idea of being able to purchase a set of irons with hybrid clubs already included. This really takes any of the guess work out of mixing and matching irons and hybrids.

Price point has been a great selling feature on these clubs as well. Despite the fact that the set comes with four hybrids the Idea a2 sells for less than most of its competitors game improvement clubs.

What We Say…

The Adams Idea a2 OS is a great game improvement set. They are extremely easy to hit and the price is good. The set is ideal for the mid to high handicap player seeking the most enjoyment from his game. All of the clubs in the set have a huge sweetspot and they will hit the ball high. We really like the idea of offering a steel shaft in the short irons with graphite in the hybrids. This will help give players better control with their scoring clubs and better distance in the longer clubs. As advertised, the transition from club to club is pretty much seamless and gapping is consistent through the set.

Adams is definitely the leader in this category of golf club and I don’t think it will be long before we see a number of companies follow suit.
