Tour Edge Golf has released an interesting video that gives you a look inside their latest driver the XCG5. According to the founder – Dave Glod, their design process of chemically bonding the face and crown eliminates weak spots and maximizes ROI, unlike the more common welding process of its competitors. Welding adds unnecessary weight to the club, robbing the user of extra yards, and creating inconsistent performance across the face.

Tour Edge chemically brazes the crown to the clubhead, keeping the weight down. By using this technology, Tour Edge was able to redistribute weight within the club to maximize the playability of this new driver. Furthermore, despite moving weight around, when coupled with the Graphite Design Tour AD shaft and lightweight Winn Exotics grip – this driver tips the scales at only 271 grams. I gotta say I also find the “boomerang face” plate intriguing myself. I’m going to have to give this new driver a try. MSRP $329.
