SirShanksAlot Comments: I recall a couple of months ago seeing a patent name request for “Long Tom” from Cobra… well, here is the result. Cobra officially launches the Long Tom Raw and Long Tom Drivers today. This driver is built around speed – everything from its length, paint finish, and weight is designed to maximize swing speed.

Both drivers are built with high strength thin Titanium 8-1-1 alloy that moves 20 grams of weight to help move the center of gravity extremely low and deep, an ultra-light weight grip, extra long 48″ lightweight shaft and a Speed Coat Finish designed to reduce drag.

The Raw driver – is a limited release (only 500 models), weighs only 275 grams, and features the raw unfinished look seen below. This model also features a top secret Blackbird shaft from Grafalloy (52 g), is available on the RH 9.0, and a choice of S, R or X flexes – available starting October 14th, 2011 for $499.

The Long Tom for the rest of us (pics added below) weighs in at 269 grams, making it even lighter than Cleveland’s models (albeit by 1 g), is available in RH & LH in a variety of lofts and flexes for a retail price of $349. This driver will have a black finish, and becomes available starting November 25, 2011.

A word on the new Blackbird Shaft by Grafalloy:
“Blackbird is an ideal shaft for players who want to maximize peak trajectory in their driver shots and increase distance. It is available in R, S and X flex in .355″ tip only.”
