Mizuno has officially launched their line of MP-T11 High Performance wedges. We posted pic’s of these beauties back a little while ago: 2011 Mizuno Line-up, but now we have a lot more detail about the technology around these clubs.
Here’s some pics and info on what Mizuno has to say about them:
Spin, control, and feel are most important around the greens, which is why better players, like Luke Donald, the #1 ranked Sand Player on the PGA Tour, rely on Mizuno’s legendary MP line of wedges. Building on the success of the tour confirmed MP T-10™ line of wedges, Mizuno is now proud to introduce the new MP T-11™ line of high performance forged wedges.
The new MP T-11 wedges combine Mizuno’s patented Grain Flow Forged® feel with a Tour proven head shape and sole to provide unmatched precision in the short game. The MP T-11’s are Grain Flow Forged from 1025E “Pure Select” mild carbon steel to provide the most soft, solid and consistent feel in the game, while an innovative 360° sole grind and thinner top line deliver maximum shot making versatility and unsurpassed control.
When it comes to spin, the Mizuno MP T-11 wedges deliver. Patented Quad Cut Groove Technology allows Mizuno to precisely control the width, depth, draft angle and shoulder radius of each and every groove. These extremely aggressive and consistent grooves combine with a CNC milled face, which enhances surface roughness, to provide the maximum amount of spin while conforming to the “Condition of Competition 2010.”
The MP T-11s also feature the new DG Spinner™, a revolutionary shaft from True Temper. The DG Spinner features a specially engineered recessed section just below the grip, which creates a distinct hinge effect producing a sharper angle of attack in the downswing. The end result is a lower initial launch at impact with a marked improvement in ball spin for trajectory and shot-stopping control on the green.
“Like any good player knows, nowhere is feel, control, and precision more important than in your wedge game,” said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager of Mizuno USA, Golf Division. “Luke Donald has been playing prototypes of these MP T-11 wedges on the PGA Tour this year, and the results are undeniable. As the #1 ranked sand player on Tour, he is a clear example of how the shot making versatility and high spin Quad Cut Grooves of the MP T-11s can take your short game to the next level.”
The MP T-11 wedges feature a classic teardrop headshape and are available in both a two-tone White Satin chrome finish and a glare resistant Black Nickel finish. Specifications for the MP T-11 Series wedges include a length of 35¼ inches (50ï‚°- white satin only, 52ï‚°, 54ï‚°, 56º, 58ï‚°) and 35 inches (60ï‚°, 64º- Black Satin only), and are available in a variety of bounce configurations. Standard shaft is the True Temper® DG Spinner, and standard grip is the exclusive Mizuno/Golf Pride® M-21 58 Round. Other shafts and grips, as well as loft and lie adjustments are available through Mizuno’s industry leading Custom Club department.
