The Milling of a Putter – In Pictures

Good evening everyone. Ever wonder how companies are able to turn a block of steel into a beautiful milled putter? Our friends over at Sunset Beach Golf Company specialize in custom milled putters and sent over a bunch of pictures that take us through the process.

We start with a block of 1018 carbon steel

Now we can see the shape of the back end of the putter

The putter is starting to take shape

Smoothing out the edges

Removing extra material from the back

Removing this material gives the putter more heel/toe weighting

Looks like a putter!

Thanks again to the guys over at Sunset Beach Golf Company for the great pics!
