Nickent 3DX vs. TaylorMade Burner Fairway

Hi everyone. Hope everyone had a great weekend… it was a bit rough for us Chargers fans. I could write a whole post on the interesting finish to the Broncos/Chargers game but I won't… let's dive into the mailbox instead. Hi everyone. Hope everyone had a great weekend… it was a bit rough for us Chargers fans. I could write a whole post on the interesting finish to the Broncos/Chargers game but I won't… let's dive into the mailbox instead. SirPutts helps a reader decide on a driver replacement club.

Hope all is well. I wanted to know your thoughts about 2 fairway woods I am looking at. The first is the Taylor Made Burner. The other is one that I noticed is on sale at a great price, it is the Nickent 3 DX Utility club. I am looking for a club that can provide greater distance and a bit more control when my driver is erratic.

The TaylorMade Burner has been a solid club. Very good reviews on this one, it is large and forgiving but still pretty easy to hit from the fairway. This is a good choice if you can get it for a decent price.

The Nickent 3DX Utility is closer to a hybrid-style club. Although it will have the same loft as a 3-wood (15 degrees) the shaft length is considerably shorter. So, while you will get a lot of control with this club, you will sacrifice distance.

If distance is your main objective, as a replacement for your driver, I think the Burner would be the better choice.

SirShanksAlot Adds… the idea of a driver replacement is something that I've experimented with in the past. I currently play the original Tour Edge Exotics fairway wood and have been really happy with it. This club is a real bomber and I sometimes wonder if carrying the driver is worth it. The original Exotics fairway woods can still be found and you should be able to get one for a good price. You're on the right track already… the Burner fairway is a great option as well. Others you may want to consider… the Callaway X Hot fairway, Tour Edge CB2 fairway. Let us know what you decide… leave a comment for all of our readers to check out!
