Hey everyone. We've got some news and notes from the weekend so let's get to it! Top-Flite Golf made quite the impression at TPC Sawgrass and Callaway is set to release some new clubs…
We don't hear much about Top-Flite Golf anymore so it was refreshing to hear about their ambush of this weekend's Players Championship. Golfers were met by a group of masked men on the 16th hole. Each of the masked group was wearing a "Never Lay Up" t-shirt. The group challenged golfers to go for the green in 2… as the 16th is a reachable par 5. The group turned their backs on golfers choosing to lay up… displaying the "C'Mon… Man Up" logo on the back of the shirt. A cool idea from the folks at Top-Flite Golf.
Keeping with the Players Championship… winner Sergio Garcia relied on a full arsenal of TaylorMade equipment…including the new Burner Tour driver. It's great to see Sergio back in the thick of things… I'm hoping he can carry it through to the Open Championship in July… and finish second to Darren Clarke.
Callaway staffer Annika Sorenstam has announced that she will retire at the end of this season. Annika will go down as one of the greatest golfers to ever play the game and she is clearly going out on her terms. Sorenstam has been with Callaway Golf since 1994.
Speaking of Callaway Golf… watch for some new additions to the Tour Authentic Line next month. Callaway is set to introduce a FT-5 driver with a hosel, a 7.5 degree FT-i driver, a X-Tour Utility Iron (2 lofts), a new grind of the current X-Forged iron and a new version of the Odyssey Marxman putter.
