With summer fast approaching we here at SirShanksAlot.com feel that it is time to start talking apparel. We talk in depth about new golf clubs and the incredible technology behind them but it’s time to expand our approach. Technology is influencing every aspect of the game and clothing is no exception.

Our first featured clothing company is Under Armour. Earlier in the winter UA announced it’s entry into the golf apparel industry with some exciting new products. The company has made some real strides in the training/performance wear category and the addition of some more traditional golf pieces seems to make a lot of sense. The UA Golf line was officially introduced at the 2006 PGA Show in Orlando.

Under Armour specializes in gear that provides ventilation and moisture wicking. They have created clothing using their trademark HeatGear performance to keep golfers cool and dry on even the hottest days. The company has used many of their patented technologies in this new line of golf apparel.

SirShanksAlot and I have been fortunate enough to try out some of the new Under Armour golf line and have been really impressed so far. Let’s have a look at a few specific pieces…

The Performance Polo is a basic, solid color shirt made of “power-stretch” fabric. The material actually stretches and this is one of the most comfortable golf shirts I have ever worn. The material is very lightweight and the stretch allows for maximum mobility… something that comes in handy when you’re trying to swing a golf club. The Performance Polo is a great value at $39.99 USD.

The Stripe Polo is a stylish shirt that can be worn on or away from the golf course. The Stripe is a microfiber construction that is nice on hot days and is extremely comfortable. The Stripe Polo is a little more fitted than the Performance Polo and looks really good.

I think the biggest hit of all was the UA Cargo Short. I wore these in Phoenix when the temperature was pushing 80 and they were fantastic. They were so light it felt like I was wearing nothing at all. Just take a minute to let that image sink into your head! The Cargo Short kept me nice and cool and they are even made with ripstop fabric. One word of caution, the shorts fit small so buy a size bigger.

We really like the Under Armour line… it’s well priced, it offers some great options and the technology that it employs really works. Under Armour golf clothing can be purchased directly on the website or at many golf retailers across North America.

We’ll feature a few more clothing companies as the season rolls on. Thanks for stopping by and we’ll talk to you soon!
